Bells Yew Green CC have their annual Junior and Senior Presentation evening on Friday Oct 1 at the Frant Village Hall. Bar, music and a buffet supper for £5.
Bells Yew Green CC has had a mixed season. The 1st XI were in contention for the Cuckmere Valley league until the end of July, but a run of defeats in August has left them mid table. A number of youngsters have been included and have gained great experience. Notable performances have been lan Wright's 95 against Denton and Kamil Chowdhury 2-11 & Linton Neill's 4-29 who almost pulled a victory from the jaws of defeat against Nutley and Chris Fox 6-14 to help beat Nutley.
The 2nd XI have had a tough season and have added several new players to their squad. Tarif Chowdhury, Gary Stevens and lan Scott must be thanked for holding the team together and bringing on the youngsters during the holiday period.
The Sunday team has won some notable victories notably against Linden Park. We lost to Bob Sevan's President's XI, with ex Kent & England player Martin McCague scoring a hundred. We should mention that Bob himself had one of his best bowling performances with 4 wickets.
The league season is nearing an end with the 1st XI playing in the Semi Final
of the Tommy Lusted Cup on 18th September.
Achievements on the junior front include:
U15s- Cup Final vs Linton Park: 11th September
U14s- 3 victories and a draw in the Sussex Cricket Festival- one of the top performances in the county
U13s- Won Weald of Kent cup & playing Tunbridge Wells on 5th & 12th September to decide winners of the Border League Division 1
U10s- Qualified for Sussex Finals under floodlights at Hove county ground on 11th September.
U9s- Reached finals of Kent Kwik Cricket competition.
We have some exciting developments around the corner, including joining the
